In 2017, before smart cities were a government policy and before AI was a product
category, a small team took on a maintenance contract for Hong Kong's road lighting network. The work
wasn't glamorous — fault calls, field visits, schedules, reports. But it put the team on almost every
major road in Hong Kong, and they started asking a different question: what if the lamppost could
